LATEST NEWS:
Thanks for your patience with our site while I worked through my back surgery. I'm now well! To celebrate: we have Gokor Chivichyan (www.gokor.com) demonstrating a sly sequence. Enjoy our most recent Featured Grappler-Gokor
(Past school videos are posted in the "FEATURED GRAPPLERS" section)
Gokor Chivichyan, among many things, is the founder and head examiner of the Hayastan MMA Academy (Hayastan Top Team) N. Hollywood CA. Please check out his website at: www.gokor.com for his detailed biography. Also, take a look at his products. You won't be disappointed. This man is awesome! I cannot sum into words the richness of this man's grappling legacy.
We had the honor of learning from Gokor, and his students: George Toney and Alex Aftandilians, during this year's Grappler's Retreat (www.grapplersretreat.com). Sensei Gokor was gracious enough to demonstrate a slick sequence for us. Sensei Gokor, thanks again for taking the time to show us theses moves.
Exercise extreme caution if you attempt any of these moves. The torque on the shoulder or elbow can be devastating. Again, read the disclaimer; if you practice these moves: do so under proper supervision. Find a good school. Train Safe, Train Hard.
In this Video:
Principle: Tightness and Timing.
You've got to be ready for your opponent's arm response. Pay attention to how they move their arm. Also, pay attention to how Gokor uses his core (his hips) and legs as the rotating force for the submissions. His legs find the position and his core finishes.
Technique: Straight Armbar // Shoulder Lock // Rolling Shoulder Lock with the Legs.
Safety note: It's really important to notice that on the rolling portion of this technique he remains on his shoulder blades. Gokor doesn't roll through like you would an omaplata. Rolling like an omaplata could destroy your opponent's shoulder; especially if they refuse to roll with you. So: TRAIN SAFE!
Here's a sneak peak at one of Gokor's DVDs available at Budovideos.com:

Thanks again Gokor, George, and Alex for such an amazing seminar!
